Description: Swiss Lace has the look of fine gold filigree. The delicate straw thread is made by splitting the straw and then twisting 2 splints on a small spinning machine. Most of the spun straw used in Lorraine's designs is very old and comes from a straw-hat-making factory in Switzerland that no longer is in operation. The boom period for this straw work was between 1830-1900.
